fusion, the brand that made waves with the Land Cruiser-style front end for the Hijet Truck, is gearing up for the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon. This time, they’re developing a full bumper kit for the Carry. We can’t wait to see what style they come up with!

A Sunny Truck-Style Carry in the Works!?
fusion turned heads at this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon with their Land Cruiser-style full bumper for the Hijet Truck. Now, we’ve got word that they’re developing a full bumper for the Carry ahead of the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon – and this time, they’re going with a Sunny Truck-inspired design.
The Sunny Truck is a compact pickup that debuted in 1967 as part of the Datsun Sunny lineup and remains a beloved classic to this day. The second-generation B120 model, introduced in 1971, became especially popular thanks to improved performance and was sold domestically until 1994 and overseas until 2008. Its rear-wheel-drive layout made it a favorite platform for tuners, and it even competed in the Safari Rally during the 1980s.
Now fusion is bringing that iconic Sunny Truck face to the Carry – what a surprise! The Sunny Truck came with both square and round headlights, but fusion has chosen the classic round headlight look. The grille is also being faithfully recreated. While the project is still in development, we managed to get our hands on some early photos. The excitement is building for what’s shaping up to be an incredible build.
But this Sunny Truck-style Carry full bumper isn’t just about the face. They’re also planning to design an optional chin spoiler for the lower section. This is going to be a dream come true for vintage car enthusiasts. Honestly, just looking at these in-progress photos has us pumped.
We spoke with the team behind the full bumper and learned they’re considering three different configurations for the Carry: first, a steel bumper-less base version for a clean look; second, a version with the bumper installed; and third, a chin spoiler-equipped finish. The exact path to completion isn’t set in stone yet, but even in these photos, you can feel the fun factor coming through.
We’re already counting down to the Tokyo Auto Salon early next year. We can’t wait to see the finished Carry full bumper!
